In Nigeria, You Can Now Report Cases of Bribery and Graft Using This Web Platform

The anti-corruption war in Nigeria seems to be gaining more energy especially with active participation of citizens. BudgIT, a Nigeria’s civic tech organisation that is raising the standards of transparency, citizen engagement and accountability most especially in public finance, has just launched anti-corruption platform named ReportYourself.

Report Yourself is a web platform developed by BudgIT to offer Nigerians an opportunity to report instances of every day bribery and graft as well as celebrate champions of change who shun corruption and conduct business honestly.

The platform was developed with the support and guidance of the Religious Leaders Anti-Corruption Committee (RLAC), the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), The Social and Economic Rights Action Center (SERAC), and the U.S. Consulate in Lagos.

Billions of Naira has been looted from Nigeria’s treasury over the past decades and it is widely believed that corruption remains the country’s biggest enemy. The Buhari-led administration recently adopted a Whistleblowing policy which it says has helped recovered huge sums of money.

With that and platforms like ReportYourself, things can only get better. But really, things will only get better when the citizens hold their government leaders accountable at all times.

Next time anyone is asking you to take bribe, remember to #ReportYourself and be celebrated for fighting Nigeria’s biggest enemy. Isn’t that cool?
